Weekly Newsletter 173: Nov 29

      It’s the last weekend of November! How? Where did the year go? Well, mine went to health issues, deaths in our families, crises too, a lot of funerals, and a metric shit ton of writing. I’m not exaggerating… Anyway, it's time to go over goals from this month and tell you all my ridiculous goal for the end of the year.

Author's Life:

     Since it’s the end of the month it’s time to go over my goals, see how I did, and give you the major goal for the End of the Year. The first one is as always writing.

☑️ Write all of A Tragedy Occurs which the title was changed to A Cruel Deceit, that was completed early Sunday morning!

☑️ Write 75,000 words. I’m pleased to say that I’ve more than DOUBLED that and have now written 152,056 words this month.

☑️ Get at least 1 sale. I have actually gotten 2 sales via Amazon this month! That’s a win for me.

✖️ Post at least once a day to my social media places, Mainly TikTok and Bluesky (BSKY). I’ve done good on TikTok, but not so great on BSKY as its mostly a text posts site, and I have fallen behind with that, because after writing 3-10k words in the books, my mind is shot for actually posting shorthand. 😅

    Now, for the Ridiculous goal I mentioned before...

🔲 My seriously ridiculous goal for the end of the year is to have written 1 million words.

      I’m not that far off. Thanks to Trackbear.app, I know the exact number of words I’ve already written in the books (890,259), and I’ve set up a new goal so I hit that 1 million count by the 31st of December (if not before). I’m 19% of the way to finishing that goal and only have to write 3,325 words a day. My average is 5,209 words. I’m hoping I can hit this goal a week early as we’ll be headed down south for the last week of the year. If I continue to write 5k+ words a day I’ll finish in 23 days, which will be the 21st of December. 🤞🏻

Family Updates:

    1) My Dad is doing well. Working more than he should, and he was a bit surprised when I stated that if he got hurt while pushing himself or doing something his doctors told him not to do that I wouldn’t go visit him in the hospital… I probably will, just because he’s my dad, but I’m worried about him doing too much too soon.

    2) Dale's Grandpa Williams passed away Wednesday night, the 26th at around 10 o'clock. There will be a service this coming week (probably) and a memorial when we all gather in the end of December. 😢 He will be missed. ❤️‍🩹

The work Life:

Writing:

      Book 9 of the Kalista Chronicles, A Cruel Deceit is DONE! I only had the Epilogue left to write last week, and I finished it on Sunday then went on to write in the next book. 🫣 Last week ACD was at 101,635 words and it ended with 105,132 words.

      I wrote 3,580 words into book 10, which I won’t reveal the title of quite yet, since it won’t release until Halloween 2029 anyway. 😜

      Now that it’s done, I’ve been working on finishing up Life After You, which was at 50,195 words, and is currently at 82,215 words.

      Total word count for the week:  39,097words

Editing:

     Dad finished C🍪🍪KIES & R🤬GE! There were only 6 little corrections and he LOVED it! He talked to Dale about it on the way to work and said “Her editor did really good on it this time” unbeknownst to him, it was mostly me with Matt doing a single pass of it before red pen edits. 🎉 

      Next step is to get Maxine to edit it... though she's still not done with Deadly Sirens. She's been having a time of it lately. One thing after another is snowballing and escalating. Send thoughts and prayers her way if you can.
