So many words, so many scenes, so many twists and turns. Here I thought this book would be a cozy cute romance. Apparently, I don’t write those. There’s always a twist of some kind, and a mystery to solve or some big bad to beat down.

Reminder: 200th Newsletter

     The 200th newsletter drops next week, June 6th, and I’m doing a character takeover. Next week, the newsletter might just be a short story, or a newsletter from a character, or some cross between the two... All I know, is Leighla has won the poll.

Author's Life:

      This week, I’ve focused on writing, and trying to finish The Author & The CEO. It is so close to being done I can taste it, but it is a lot more twisty than I thought. I’m trying to untwist things, and having it twist the other way. It’s honestly going to be a lot longer  than I anticipated.

     I also thought about cutting out the parts that make it twisty and just letting it be a romance with no twists, but that’s just not me or my characters. Especially not for this book. It went from “is this a curse or just bad luck due to Murphy’s law?” to “Oh no, someone has forbidden lore that should not be accessible to them...” It’s been shockingly different from the Civvy side of the street.

     So, Last week, when I posted the newsletter The Author & the CEO had 55,670 words… it currently, as of last night, has 90,585 words… When I say, all the words, I mean it.

     Total word count for the week: 34,915 words

May Word Count Goal: 55,000 current progress 158.8%

Editing:

       Matt is about halfway through the last pass of Cookies & Rage. He’s not finding a lot, but I also found a few things while posting one liners to Bluesky this week.

Art Feature:

     This weeks art is an adorable scene from my WIP The Author and the CEO. I thought they would meet at the ball, but lo and behold, my characters had other ideas. Instead of waiting, Bryce decided he needed to teleport to her Grandmother’s house and tell her what he’d found out about the curse I mentioned above. Then things got… hot, though cool… It’ll all make sense when you all get to read the book. ALSO, I’ve decided this will be the book that releases in July of 2029, right after Dirge of the Betrayed.
