The One with a Lot of Art
You ever have one of those weeks that kicks you when you’re down then mugs you while you’re trying to get your wits about you. That was my week.

This month's banner feature's Kalista and Chaos at a Halloween/Birthday bash for Kalista.
Also featuring Elsinore in the background in the coffin.
Author's Life:
Between unnecessarily worrying about Bella, the plumbing problem returning (and being fixed, shout out to our landlord, Doug), and fighting more migraines than I have in MONTHS, it’s not been a good week. I’ve only gotten an average of 4.5 hours sleep this week, after 10-12 hours awake, my body decides that I need a 4-5 hour nap. 🙄It’s been so awful that I’m going to try pulling a 24-36 hour day, keep myself awake until a normal time then konk out.
Since Dale is home and can take of the puppy this weekend, the only problem I see with this is that I have an 8:30 a.m. endocrinologist appointment on Tuesday… which means I have to leave home at 7:20 a.m. to give myself enough travel time. So, yeah, hopefully I can kick my butt back into the write rhythm again.
I was quite scattered this week, unable to really focus on any one project for more than a few hours, but I did get a lot of art done. Though, not the art I probably should’ve been making… except for the commission. That one was supposed to be done.
The work Life:
Writing:
Writing was very scattered this week, but I wrote almost double the words I did last week.
- LIFE AFTER YOU was at 48,306 and it’s now at 50,070.
- I started rewriting the next KaliLing book, which is at 4,284 words now.
- I edited, revise, and wrote 3,469 words into another story that was for a short story piece but may become it’s own book as lore got dropped and my mind is now mulling it over.
- I also started Kotys’s Story… which has 3,701 words in it.
As I said, I was “Scattered” this week.
Total word count for the week: 13,218 words
Editing:
Maxine’s still working through DEADLY SIRENS… Slow but steady as even more life things have come up. I’ve managed to red pen edit 4 chapters of Cookies & Rage! Which is a lot considering everything that went on this week.
Publishing:
Beta Reading for DEADLY SIRENS has ended. Here are the final stats:
- Everyone has turned in the survey for chunk 1, which has NEVER happened before in the history of beta reading the Born Angel Universe!
- Chunk 2 has 7 of 9 surveys
- Chunk 3 has 6 of 9 surveys
- Chunk 4 has 6 of 9 surveys…
27 days to book!
Preorder for AN ANGEL FALLS is still going. Only 27 days to release! You can find all the info, plus where to preorder the eBooks by clicking here!
Damaged copies
I only have 2 good copies right now, the other 2 were damaged in shipping. *grumbles* I'm going to list 1 damaged copy under the preorder page for anyone who wants to buy a paperback copy and doesn't mind that it's got a bit of spine damage and front slippage. It will still come with the sticker and bookmark, plus free eBook.

Art Feature:
This week’s art is a piece from the Deadly Siren AND Cookies & Rage, but mostly from Astrid’s perspective so that makes it more Cookies & Rage. 😉 This is “A Study in Contrasts” which is what Midge, Astrid, thinks when she first meets Koty and Sin in person.
From Chapter ten of Cookies &d Rage
“Welcome to Château de Chaos. It’s not just my house, it’s also chaotic of late, and getting a bit crowded,” she muttered the last bit under her breath as Uncle Forseti appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
“I can help with those. Where are they going?” he asked Uncle Max, who turned to Chaos.
“Upstairs, second door on the left. Opposite Kotys’s room,” she paused and turned to me, “Unless you’d rather bunk with Koty and Sin. Sin has a day bed, so you can sleep on the pullout—”
“Can she! It’ll be like a sleepover,” an excited, yet gruff voice came from beyond the archway. It sounded as if she’d been choked or strangled, and I wondered what sort of traumatic past led to it. Was that Sin?
“Three isn’t near enough for a real sleepover,” another voice about an octave lower, but clearer more seductive scoffed, and I would bet my savings it was Kotys. I chuffed and set my hands on my hips.
“What the hell is your criteria for a slumber party? Three people feels just right to me. Any more and someone is liable to fall out of bed,” I snarked as two equally gorgeous women stepped into the archway. They were like a study in contrasts.
The one on the left was six three or four with slightly tan skin, dark freckles, and the classic ginger red hair with lean muscles and a rack I would die for. The other was no taller than five eight with dark purple hair that matched her eyes. Her skin was so pale and freckled it was only a shade or two darker than Makumae’s alabaster skin tone. She looked more like an older teenager than a grown woman, though her metaphysical presence hinted that she was older than her taller counterpart.
“That just means you need a bigger bed,” the ginger passed back, before she lifted her hands. “I’d say five at the least, but I’m used to annual slumber parties with fifteen girls, which includes karaoke, movies, bowling—” she counted off on her fingers as I rolled my eyes. Yep, this was the extroverted Kotys. The other girl shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest as she rolled her eyes too.
“I’ve never even had someone sleep in my room that was platonic until you,” she stopped Kotys, the tone in her voice changing. The depth of her voice was definitely due to permanent damage to her windpipes, but when and how had it happen? She turned to me and smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I bet your used to sleeping with your sib—”
“Not really,” I cut her off before I could think too much about it, “Since Mikaila moved out, we don’t do a lot of slumber parties in the basement anymore. They usually go to her house, but Lala and I don’t get along.” Chaos looked from them to me then to my uncles who were still waiting for an answer. “I’d bunk with the girls, but I’m an amplifier, and I’m on that week of my cycle. So, it’s not really safe to—”
“You gained your Packshana’s power, huh?” Chaos asked, looking to Uncle Max. “No wonder you and Max get into so much trouble. He’s powerful enough on his own. Add an amplifier, and you’re asking for destruction on a massive scale.”
“Rubbish, that’s just a normal Tuesday,” Uncle Max interjected as my cheeks burned with blush.
