The Return of the Klutz
More words, though not as many as last week, due to pain from the Klutz incident… I’ll explain that in Author Life. Also, an update on dad and reminders about things to come next year! (Check the very bottom in the Mark Your Calendar Section for 2026 dates or click here for the New Calendar Page!)
This month's banner feature's Kalista in a bubble of violet energy and Oxykinesis.

Author's Life:
Story time: I am a klutz, and I don’t get it from anyone strange (Hi, Makumae, I love you). On Monday, I got a painful reminder of this. I had to go about town while it was snowing, and on my last stop, I smashed my shin on a set of display steps at the corner store/market. I was carrying two frozen Pizzas in my left hand/arm, two people were coming at me, so I was waiting for them, and thought I was beyond that display. Apparently not as I “barked” my shin pretty good. It also bruised and got rather swollen in a six inch by three-inch section and was painful to walk on for a few days.
As I write this, (Friday afternoon after running errands) I am icing it as it’s still swollen and the bruise is very pretty colors. 🙄 I haven’t hurt myself that badly in a while, so I guess I was due for some humbling.
Family Updates:
My Dad: He’s going back to part time work on Monday. Most likely just driving for the crew, but still that’s a bit of responsibility off Dale’s shoulders, which I’m happy for. It’s been a long few months for the crew as well as for Dad. He’s doing much better and been getting his strength back little by little.
Dale's Grandpa Williams: Please keep him (and the family) in your thoughts and prayers. Grandpa (Don) Williams had a stroke back on September 5th and was doing better but has taken a turn for the worse. Hospice is saying he has a few weeks. 🥺 We were planning to go down to see them for Christmas, and still are, but we may have to make a trip down sooner. Please, keep him and the family in your thoughts and prayers.
The work Life:
Writing:
Book 9 of the Kalista Chronicles, A Tragedy Occurs is going well, though there have been a ton of twists and turns I wasn’t prepared for… So, right about normal. Last week, I ended up writing 26,295 words of it, this week, the document sits at 53,175 words… Making this weeks word count 10k less than the week before... Dumb pain.
Total word count for the week: 26,880 words
Editing:
C🍪🍪KIES & R🤬GE is now with my Dad for his edits! I just gave it to him Wednesday Morning, so we’ll see how long it takes him to get through this one 😉 Matt and I will start Fated Angel’s edits in December. I’m very excited but have a lot of writing to do first!

Art Feature:
New picture from AN ANGEL FALLS, I do plan on doing one every week of this month. This was a request of one or two of the Beta readers and is an INTENSE scene from Chapter 26 which is the last chapter. Kalista is holding onto a cliff face, while pointing a shotgun out into the mist as Beryx climbs up a rope.
From Chapter 26 of An Angel Falls
“Beryx!” I called out as I stepped away from the cliff. Overhead, seagulls cawed to one another, and in the distance, was the sound of stones grating as if someone were climbing or holding on for dear life. I stepped back to the edge and looked down. There, fifty feet below in the mist of the morning, was a form clinging to the rocks. I reached my power out and around the presence. It was him. “BERYX!”
He looked up and his eyes went wide. Why wasn’t he using his wings? A second later, a gust of wind pushed me back from the edge, and I nodded. That’s why. I stepped back to the edge, manifested a rope, and tossed it over. Looking around for something to tie it to proved useless. I reached my metaphysical hand into the earth and pulled up a strong column of stone. I tied the rope around it then stepped back to the ledge.
“Grab the rope,” I called, and he glared up at me. “Don’t glare at me, Beryx Liam Drascul. Just take the damn rope.” His eyes widened as he realized it was me. He grabbed the rope and started up. Something appeared out of the mist, and it beelined for him. “Oh, no you don’t.”
I would not let whatever that was attack him. I pulled off his sweater and dropped it to the ground then jumped off the cliffs. Someone screamed, but it wasn’t me or Beryx. My wings unfurled, catching me, but I dove toward the shape not caring what it was. I gathered power into myself from the very air, and the thing felt me a moment too late. I summoned my shotgun, loaded for bull demon, and shot at it.
It darted back into the mist, and thunder clapped, or what sounded like thunder. I knew better. That was the sound of large leathery wings. We needed to get out of here and fast. I rushed to Beryx’s side, halfway up the rope, and he shook his head.
“You have either the worst or the best timing,” he grunted. A smirk crossed my lips as I grabbed onto the cliff face with one clawed hand, but my face and gun were pointed at the mist.
“Can’t it be both?” I asked, eyes roving the mist, waiting for the creature to appear again, so I could get a good look at it.
“Sure, but how the hell did you find me?” he asked. The thunder clapped again, and I shook my head.
“No time to explain,” I said, pushing off the cliff.
