Busy, Busy, Busy

This is something I don’t like being when it requires me to be outside of the house more days than I’m home, but this week, I didn’t have a choice… Though everything went smoothly, right up until it didn’t…

The October Header described below the picture

here we have Max and his shadow, Astrid. showcasing their height differences.

Author's Life:

The busy part of my week began on Wednesday. The car needed two new tires, not cheap, but not as bad as I was expecting. Thursday was an annual doctor’s appointment, stopping to get a few things for the road trip, and stopping off at the mechanic to get the lug nuts torqued again. That’s where things went a bit sideways.

When I got home, the metal part of the key and where it slides into the ignition was hot. So, I took it back to the mechanic (didn’t even get to go inside at home), and they looked everything over from wires to mechanics, nothing smelled hot and it was only the key and where it went in that felt warm/hot. The only thing they could figure is that the blower for the feet has a few slits in the top too and points nearly directly onto that part of the dash for whatever reason.

Then I got home and waited for the package containing, among other things, my shirt for my sister-in-law’s wedding. Well, it looked good, but in pictures there was a six inch line down the middle at the top, so I looked closer and there was something on it. So I washed it and pulled out a different outfit (A dress I’ve had for over a decade that I hadn’t worn in a long time), and kept right on preparing for the trip. At this point, I feel I should’ve questioned going more.

Friday Morning, we left for Dale’s sister’s wedding at around ten am on Friday. We stopped in Painesville, OH for gas and lunch, then went to get back on the highway… A low groan came from the front driver’s side tire area, and I immediately said, “pull over.” Much to our chagrin, it was leaking power steering fluid and bad.

Thank God for AAA, because we got it towed to a shop nearby only to find that the Rack and Pinion was broken and the steering fluid pump busted. So, after looking into several options that just weren’t feasible or even possible, My Viking (Dale) drove it 134 miles back to our Mechanic where it now sits until Monday.

I’m not going to lie. We regret not being able to get to her wedding, but at the same time, we had no control over this and there is no way we could get there now. On one hand, we are a bit happy to not have to deal with a bit of family drama that has been brewing quietly in the background for decades, but we are home for a low stress weekend before finding out how expensive this breakdown is going to be… (More about that just before the Art)

Editor Update:

Matt will be going into surgery around 9 pm EST Sunday (1 pm AEDT Monday, if his Doctors’ first surgery of the day goes well) and should be out by 4 am (9 pm AEDT). I’ll hear how things went through the grapevine via his niece and April, who is also my friend and his wife. He should be back in contact hopefully by the end of this week… 🤞🏻🙏🏻

The work Life:

Writing:

This week, I started writing DIRGE OF THE BETRAYED… I’ve managed to write 13,623 before we left… Not bad at all given I only got to really write three days this week, the other days were select editing and trying to really get into this book.

Total word count for the week:
13,623 words

Editing:

It was an edit heavy week as it’s easier to edit in the car and appointments (car and self) and **drum roll** AN ANGEL ENRAGED is all marked up! I finished red pen editing all 14 chapters and the Epilogue that I had left! Now, I just have to input them all… which is probably what I will be doing with myself while Matt is in hospital.

Publishing:

✨Beta Reading Continues!✨

Beta Reading for COOKIES & RAGE is well underway!

The Discord *clears throat* I mean RootApp chat betas, however, are amazing!! I’ve had 6 surveys turned in for chunk 1 (some people were a bit busy or sick still, so didn’t get to read/fill out a survey), 4 for chunk 2, and 1 for chunk 3 which I dropped Thursday night, since I was anticipating not being home Friday night in order to drop it for them.

They’re still loving it and I am loving their responses to the survey. 💗

🌙 Deadly Sirens Pre-order🌙

A special Thank you to Slade, Debbie, Mal, Lilah, and Patrick for your orders!

📚Reserving books for the Convention📚

If anyone plans to come see me at the convention, I will have a limited supply of books (all paperback) and I will have a form/item in my shop this week where you can pre-order/reserve books. Also, if you're coming and want Hardcover books, I will have that available on there until the 25th of March so I can have time to get the hardcovers in before the convention. Is now up... that's why I didn't get this up on time... Oops!

help the Author out!

The car is going to be a mighty expensive fix with $200 for the steering pump and another $200 for the Rack and pinion assembly, then labor to take it all apart and stick it back together. I'm guestimating about $700-800 total, possibly $900.

To help with this cost, I have placed all my eBook bundles on sale. This means you can get all 12 of my published books for only $15! Or All the Kalista books for $9 or all the Created Angel books (including Deadly Sirens*) for only $9 too.

(*Deadly Sirens will be delivered on release day)

Note: if you already have the books, but still want to help out, share the sale with others, or you could buy them for others... or you could "donate" to the cause Via my Ko-fi
NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO HELP, I AM SIMPLY LEAVING THIS HERE FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO DO SO... I also am not great at asking for help, so yeah... 👉🏻❤️‍🩹👈🏻

Art Feature:

This week, this is the only art I got done. I wasn’t going to post it, but since it’s all I did (due to it taking so long to render as it was a reflection heavy environment). This is what we get: Roxanne (aka Chaos) is On a Date with Professor Smarm, which happens in the background of AN ANGEL ENRAGED… with a quote directly from the book. Also, of note, Roxanne isn’t actually not taller than Professor Smarm, but she’s wearing tall heels, so that makes him look like a “short king.”
