Weekly Writer Update 67: November 12-18

Published on 18 November 2023 at 04:00

This week has very much less busy, and I’ve not done so much writing because I’ve been processing some hard blows this week. One personal thing that I won’t be sharing, and my Uncle Jay died Thursday. I’m still processing so today will be short.

Author's Life:

This week was rather tame compared to the last couple of weeks. I went out Sunday for a girls day out, Monday had my annual appointment that all females seem to hate, then I was home Tuesday-Friday. The only upsetting thing was that my Uncle, who had been in and out of the hospital the last three weeks died on Thursday morning. We weren’t that close, but it’s still so raw, death always is. Mortality is a hard thing to digest. The funeral is Tuesday and my husband is going with me… this is the first time we’ve attended a funeral together.

But also on Thursday, when I was feeling really down, I got a package from Dee (my Beta reader friend from Ohio that I visited back in September) She 3d prints and she sent me some dragons! She didn’t tell me what she was sending, and I love them all so very much!!!

Also, today I get to go to my first Write-In for NaNoWriMo! I've never been to this type of an event where I get to be with other writers and talk books and write together! I'm stoked for it, and I'll be sure to write about it next week!

Writing & Editing:

Last Saturday I had 43,440 words. I ended Friday with 65,100 words that’s a gain of 21,660 words. I’m still enjoy where this is going, and I’m not at chapter 22. There have been some twists I didn’t expect… and even something that will change even more things down the line.

       Favourite little exchange this week:

“Even though Packana doesn’t want me investigating?” I asked. His lips rose into a smug smirk and his eyes sparkled.

“Especially because he doesn’t want you to,” he said…

Publishing:

The Pre-order for An Angel’s Advent began on Sunday, and I’ve gotten 4 orders so far, but hopefully there will be more soon as it closes on December 1st. Every physical book will come with a free eBook copy, because I will not be able to get you the book by Christmas due to holiday shipping and printing which is slower.

The betas now have the WHOLE BOOK! I’m hoping they’ll all be finished by Thursday so I can get the book in and order a few copies.

Art Feature:

This art is a remake of a piece I did five years ago when I wrote what was then “A Christmas Engagement” and is now “An Angel’s Advent.” This is by far one of the betas FAVORITE scenes and so I had to remake it. It looks so much better than it did, much more cuddly. This is from Beryx and Kalista's very first official date.

My Favorite quote from this scene:

With her arms around me, I could have ridden forever...

...but I didn’t want someone to think I kidnapped her.

Also of note! I am running a BLACK FRIDAY SALE now until the end of the year. Book Bundles are 25% off. You can bundle the series or the entire Born Angel Universe and save 25%! (For the Kalista Chronicles, that’s buy 3 get the 4th free! As this also applies to the preorder. Just choose the “Kalista Collection”)

Thanks for reading!
