The One with the Car Problems...

This one is a bit late... but After reading the "Author Life" section, you'll understand why...

Christmas/Yule has come and gone, and I’m now officially on Vacation though it’s been rocky from day one. But that doesn’t mean I can forget what I promised! At the end of this newsletter, you’ll get the full cover art of Cookies & Rage before it’s big social media drop on New Years!

The October Header described below the picture

This month's banner feature's Odin and Freya in a typical "Mall Santa" type setting.

(read about it at the end of this blog)

Author's Life:

This week has been a roller coaster… And not in a good way. We prepped for Vacation as much as we could, got everything ready on Christmas Eve, spent Christmas at my grandparents house with family before going home at around 4 to get a nap. We left home at midnight and everything was going smoothly up until we hit Cincinnati. Then the car went haywire.

There were no issues when we left, no signs of issues, but the alternator went. We spent all day at a small mechanic/tow company trying to get it fixed. The day after Christmas is NOT the day to break down anywhere. They were the only place in range to get it fixed. Dale helped get it apart then back together, but it’s still not running. We had to have Dale’s brother come up to get us and leave the car there. The plan was to try replacing the brake sensor, but that part hasn’t come in, and so the tow guy suggested getting it to the dealership cause the security system is triggering.

We spent all day today (Monday the 29th) trying to get that towed, but between the dealer and the tow guys everyone is super busy and it’s been like pulling teeth. Dale’s sister’s fiancé thinks he may have a work around, so they may go up to the car and try a few things, and if that doesn’t work, they’ll go to a dealer in person and get things straightened out. The Dealer was also quoting 1-2 weeks to get it in and fixed, cause of the holidays, so we’d have to leave it and find another way home (we’ve got that mostly figured, just hoping and praying it doesn’t come to that).

Through this experience, I’ve learned one very important thing. We’re NEVER going to use our own car for a road trip again. We will rent a car instead.

The work Life:

Writing:

Dani Rae and the Fish started at 72,940 and was finished on Tuesday with 90,100, WOOHOO!

I did start editing A Soulmate of Her Own right after, cause I needed something to take my mind off the impending vacation. It started with 68,951 and on Saturday had 69,071. It’s got a few more now, but editing and dealing with car stress and enjoying family time has it going slow.

Total word count for the week: 17,280 words

Update on Writing Ridiculous Goal:

I completed my ridiculous word goal last Monday and then went on to add 6,654 more words! I was hoping to possibly get it to a million and ten thousand, but with all the hubbub and holiday plans, I don’t think I’ll make it.

Editing:

Besides the editing of A Soulmate of Her Own, I’ve not done anything in Fated Angel due to holiday hubbub. And Maxine hasn’t read through Deadly Sirens yet, so I doubt she’ll get to Cookies & Rage. Instead, I’ve had Lilah copy editing for me. She’s actually read through and edited 3 books in the matter of three days this past week, and I’m so grateful for her. Not only her editing, but her encouragement through all this holiday hubbub, and her comments on the books really made me smile and are helping me keep going.

Publishing News:

The 50% off eBook Sale is still on until Thursday!

I'm still looking for beta readers for Cookies & Rage AND ARC readers for Deadly Sirens, find out more about each book by tapping the buttons or the covers!

Art Feature:

TIME FOR THE REVEAL! This is the full cover for Cookies & Rage, book 1 of the KaliLing novels, featuring Astrid Danika Drascul the rough and reckless middle child of the Drascul horde. This parallels The Deadly Sirens in a PG-rated fashion and has no spice, though it does touch on PG-13 topics like suicide, emotional and mental manipulation, dating, age-gap, and sex (but there is none on page).
