The Long Trip Home...
We're back home again and happy to say the return trip was smooth, though we could’ve done without the snow when waiting for us… Also, WE GOT THE CAR BACK TUESDAY!
This year I'm only doing seasonal changes to the picture. For Winter, we have Astrid in the snow.
More about it in this week's art feature.
Author's Life:
So, on Monday, I told you all of our vehicle woes. Well, Thanks to my sister-in-law, Rachel’s fiancé we got our car back! When my Viking (Dale) told him that the key fobs didn’t work, so we couldn’t turn the Anti-theft system off, he said, “Here, let me see it.” And in less than 5 minutes, he figured out why they weren’t working. It was a faulty connection, which he fixed then they went up to see if they could fix the car. They reconnected the battery, fiddled with the fob and BOOM! IT WORKED! Dale drove it to the Air BnB without incident, we drove it around down there all week, and drove it home without ANY problems!
We enjoyed vacation immensely, from hanging out with family to mini golfing (which my right hip and right knee were/are not happy about due to all the standing on concrete), and the warmer weather. We were a bit sad to come home to snow and cold.
We started for home Friday morning at 8 am sharp and got home about 8 pm which is 11 hours with the time change and stops for food, gas, and bathroom breaks, which we only had 3 of. We also didn’t run into the big snowstorm that was advised. We did see some snow flurries when we were driving around Cleaveland and Erie, but no big snowstorms. Nothing on the roads at all!
A highlight of the trip back was that Bella sat on my lap for a good hour. She normally doesn’t, but something about this trip made her want to sit with mommy for the last bit. She even fell asleep on my lap!
The work Life:
Writing:
I spent the majority of my vacation doing things with family, but I did finish editing A Soulmate of Her Own and started writing again Thursday. Last week it was at 69,071. This week it finished out with 70,500, which is less than 1.5k words, but my goal for this month is 50,000. I’ve decided to pace myself and do a lower number this month.
Total word count for the week: 1,429 words
Editing:
NOW that the new year is here, it’s time to get back to editing FATED ANGEL! So, it’ll be ready to go to the rest of the editors and then to Beta’s the end of this year! I know, getting ahead of myself, but gotta get things rolling!
New Segment: Polls!
My Manager suggested I run a poll to see who everyone's favorite Main Character of the current books are. Choose Wisely for the winner will get a new book from their POV.😉
Publishing News:

Art Feature:
A Picture from Cookies & Rage. This may look a bit familiar to some of you as I did this before in an older model from a different angle, but I wanted to do it again with the new model. This is Astrid, the Main Character, standing next to a tree with a snowball in her hand. SNIPPET BELOW! Also, don’t forget to sign up to Beta Read it!
Snippet from Cookies & Rage: Chapter 3
“I must’ve been seein’ things,” A deep jolly voice muttered. It was so calming that I almost dropped the snowball, but the power had the potential for malice, and my intuition screamed at me to run. I wouldn’t do either. I was no coward.
As the footsteps crunched closer, I spun out from behind the tree, poised to throw my snowball, but froze. My eyes bugged and my jaw dropped as I took in the man the voice belonged to.
He was tall and broad like Uncle Max, but at least half a foot taller, and his shoulders were nearly that much broader. His fiery red hair was long enough to reach the middle of his back, and he wore a red flannel trapper hat with genuine fur on the inside, a red flannel jacket, black pants, and big black boots with white fur around the top. He looked like a red flannel Santa Clause, though he was much more fit than the traditional Saint Nicholas.
I was thinking about how muscular he must be to have biceps that looked thicker than my waist when he spoke, but I didn’t catch it over my thoughts and my music changing. I nudged one earphone off, and he kindly smiled.
“You must be lost,” he said as he cautiously approached me like you would a wild animal. I shook my head and sniffled then cursed the forgotten tears and my hormones as I cleared my throat.
“I’m not lost...”
