The World is on Fire...
Or at least Canada is along with some of Washington state. We’re close to Canada, so our air quality is 500 (very bad). We're advised to stay indoors unless necessary. Not that I got out much anyway. 😒 It has made me congested, which has impacted my work… but I’ve pushed through, and comments from beta readers has helped immensely.

Author's Life:
It’s been a weird week. I’ve been sick/feeilng off about half this week. I’m trying not to overthink it, but the smoke from Canada is getting to me as well making me congested and giving me headaches. I’ve also had trouble with my “gamers thumb” again…
This month is not being gentle with any of us, but I’ve been keeping on track with posting, writing, and trying to get more sales… That’s still not great, but not much I can do about that except keep talking about the books. AND Beta readers are finishing up AN ANGEL ENRAGED! The comments are making my days brighter. So, a huge THANK YOU to my amazing beta readers who have been so forgiving when it comes to the new program... mostly.
Also! Preorders went out this week, so if you ordered, be on the lookout for Cookies & Rage to come in the mail!
The Books:
Writing:
Autumn’s Equinox had 47,675 words last week, and is now at 65,556 words! I also edited and added the beginning of another book to my files this week, which was another 969 words. Not bad overall. Especially since I had a few bad days where words were not forthcoming or hard.
The Total word count for this week: 18,850 words
July Word Count Goal: 65,000 current progress 80.18% (52,116words)
Editing
Beta readers are finishing up the book! And the results are in… The cliffhanger is a drop off they weren’t expecting, and they want more book. My work here is done 😉

Forseti: “Your father was right for once.”
Kalista: “Hearing you admit that is scary.”
Forseti: “Saying it is even scarier given the context.” - Kalista: “I think he knows something she doesn’t want him talking about.”
Beryx: “Like her triplet sons aren’t Jethro’s, their being mated always sat wrong with me, and the fact that when they first met, she was riding two men? No, I don’t know why she’d want to silence me.”

Art Feature & Snippet
This week, art has been slow because my desktop updated twice without giving warning and a large/slow commission render was going, which means I had to restart that render twice… It’s still (as of writing this) not done. So, you get another picture I’ve not shown off yet. This comes from An Angel Enraged, Chapter 10 where Kalista meets Roxanne/Chaos for the very first time.
Chaos/Roxanne standing next to her Belle her 1955 Chevy Bel air in custom red and black
in foreground is Kalista in her riding leathers.
Chapter 10 Snippet: An Angel Enraged
I focused on the café, wondering which form she’d meet me in. Was her normal everyday form the brunette with blue eyes, or was that her human façade saved for special occasions and mortal interaction? After all, the visions of her killing were all in her ombre haired red and orange eyed form. I was almost to the doors when a pristine 1955 Chevy Bel Air in black and red pulled up to the curb. I stared at it as the driver’s door opened and Roxanne stepped out.
She was breathtaking in a stylish black blouse, black leather pants, and heels that made me feel even shorter than she had in my visions. She was at least six feet tall without the heels. I wished I wore my head kicker boots with the four-inch platforms, instead of the riding boots with the smaller heel. Her eyes magnetized to me as I stopped at the front driver’s side panel of her car.
“Do you want to dine inside or out?” she asked, not bothering with the nuances of greetings and formalities. She knew me from the papers, much like everyone else, but if everything my sources said was true, she also had some of the same issues caused by the same Fœmoræ.
“Inside is best. Less ways for someone to sneak up on us,” I stated, walking toward the door. She didn’t rush to beat me to it. She stayed a few feet behind until I opened the door and swept my arm through, letting her enter first.
“Merci,” she thanked me as she strutted past. Every head in the place turned to gawk at her. It wasn’t an exaggeration, and I didn’t blame them. She was gorgeous in all the ways that drew people’s eyes. It was only after they saw me, the short goth girl in complete leather, that they looked away. I smirked, grateful to be the menacing guard dog for once, and she looked at me as she stopped by a table near the back. “I should have you accompany me on all my trips into town. People always stare at me for one reason or another, bloody uncomfortable.”
“I understand the sentiment. I’m used to them staring at me, not thinking me the protective bodyguard,” I bantered, slipping into one of the empty chairs around the table.
If you would like art like this or a short story, you can commission me and help me pay for health insurance (and care), car fixes, and unexpected expenses!
Feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of the page about what you thought or if you had a question. I'll reply... promise.
