This week, I spiked a low-grade fever twice, have had no energy, concentration, or much brain power. My body has been so sore, and I have no real explanation other than I must’ve caught a bug thanks to my husband's coworkers. It's so fun having a compromised Immune System. 🙄

Author's Life:

     Well, this weeks is relatively bland. I was sick, nausea, lack of appetite, brain fog, low grade fever (99.7F, 37.6C) which was enough to bring body aches and head throbbing. Tuesday & Thursday were the only “good” days I had, where I felt present and able to do things. Tuesday was the day I scheduled to play games with friends, so that was nice. Thursday, I spent ALL day reading.

     One of those books was “Two for the Pain” by James Moorer and it was such a good book! Even with the couple typos and missing commas, I loved it! So, you get the review too!

     Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Private Detective Eddie Gideon, AKA Gitz to his friends, is framed for the murder of this girlfriend and seeks justice for her only to find out she wasn’t who he thought. Twists, Turns, and Trollops abound in this Crime Noir/Mystery! AND there’s another book coming Spring 2027! 

    The other book was Volume one of Phatomarine, a webcomic by Claire K. Niebergall, that took off, and I have now read ALL of it that she's posted! You can read it for free over on the author’s webpage. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the Fantasy genre as it has a princess, her friends, an adorable Samoyed pup, and a quest to beat the God of Death, Cheth who takes many forms, including an adorable plesiosaur. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

      I wrote a couple hundred words into the short story “The Unquenchable Desire” while editing it and that’s it… again, brain fog and pain this week has been 1000% awful. Plus, I'm trying to focus more on editing, polishing, and reading than writing this month.

     Total word count for this week: 812

Editing

       I’ve got 7 chapters left of Death, Desires, & Inner Demons, should finish this week, and then I can start red pen editing A Dangerous Game (Kalista book 8). 

      I've not heard from dad about The Fated Angel this week, but since Beta Readers started it yesterday, I've moved it up the rung to Deanna who is on chunk 4 of 5 already! She only just started on Friday, and it's giving me a major confidence boost.

Snippet from An angel Enraged: Chapter 2

     I stood and intuition urged me to knock. I took another deep breath and knocked five times, then paused for a count of three before knocking twice more. It was the same knock I used in Lashdanôke when I visited him for the first and the last times. The chair in the room creaked as it turned, and the door slowly opened enough that any of the girls could enter, but no one spoke. I stepped inside keeping the cloak around me.

       My mind slowed as I took in the Fœmoræ behind the desk. She was taller than I remembered. Her golden tan skin seemed to glow in the sunlight, which glittered off the golden strands of her hair, and highlighted the golden hue of her iris. She had many names, Golden B’aktana (Demoness, Vulgar used like Bitch), Golden Fœmoræ, and Órbhuí among them. Where was the Akram (Vile Betrayer)?

       “Your cloak will do you no good, Li’na (Little One),” she baited me as the door swung shut. I didn’t move, didn’t breathe. She couldn’t know I was here. “I know about your friends searching the house. I felt them arrive with the Heir of Darkness.” Of course, she could sense Jael too. “Come out Charka Aknobas (Broken Redeemer).”

      My anger roiled, at the corruption of my title, and the cloak dropped. I glared at her and summoned my boots to my feet. She grinned as she stood and placed her hands flat on the desk. I crossed my arms, sliding my hands toward the hilts of my knives which would cause her to heal nearly human slow. We stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before she stood straight again.

     “Welcome, Kalista. After Cadence arrived, Vretil said you wouldn’t be far behind. I thought he was delusional, but he seems to know you best,” she stepped around the desk, and I wrapped my hands around the hilts. “You’re not going to hurt me.”

“Wanna bet, Nevari (Temptress),” I quipped and lunged, pulling my blades as I flew at her.
